Government suspends fresh security service recruitment applications for 2027 – Muntaka

The government will not accept fresh applications for recruitment into the various security services in 2027 as it seeks to clear the backlog of qualified applicants awaiting enlistment.
Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, said the decision follows instructions from President John Dramani Mahama and is intended to prioritise applicants who have successfully completed the recruitment process but could not proceed to training because of limited capacity.
“Next year, there will be no new applicants. We are not going to open the portal based on the President’s instructions. We are not going to open the portal for fresh applications,” he said.
Mr Muntaka explained that the security services would instead select qualified candidates from the existing list of applicants who met the recruitment requirements but were unable to secure places for training.
“Those who have already applied, gone through and passed the process and qualified to have gone for training but space didn’t allow are the ones we will pick,” he added.
“We will keep picking from the list until we exhaust it before another application will be allowed,” the Minister stated.
