“I’m most competent candidate for NPP 1st Vice-Chairperson race – Sam Pyne.

Samuel Pyne, the former Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and a leading contender for the 1st Vice-Chairperson position in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) national executive elections, has asserted that his vast experience and track record make him the most qualified candidate among the 13 aspirants vying for the role.
Speaking on Peace FM’s flagship morning show on Thursday, Mr. Pyne highlighted his deep-rooted allegiance to the party, emphasizing that he is the only candidate in the race who has continuously served the NPP since its inception in 1992.
His political career spans grassroots engagement to high-level governance, having risen through the ranks as a polling station executive, ward coordinator, and constituency officer, culminating in a three-term tenure as the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party.
Additionally, he has served on the National Council, the highest decision-making body of the NPP for over a decade.
“These experiences at the polling station, ward, constituency, regional, and national levels have adequately equipped me to discharge my duties with utmost competence and creditability,” Mr. Pyne stated.
He added that “I dare say that no other aspirant in this Vice-Chairperson race possesses a political trajectory as comprehensive as mine.”
Credibility and Loyalty:
Placing 11th on the ballot, Mr. Pyne appealed to delegates across the country to prioritize unblemished character, loyalty, and proven capacity when casting their votes on Saturday.
Following an extensive nationwide campaign tour, the former Mayor expressed strong optimism about his prospects, noting that interactions with grassroots delegates and party executives reflect widespread confidence in his candidacy.
“I am fully confident that the party officers, from constituency executives to regional leaders, will endorse me on Saturday because they recognize that I embody the qualities of credibility, loyalty, and competence necessary to drive the NPP forward,” he said.
Party Welfare:
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Pyne urged all candidates to exercise restraint and maintain decorum in their public commentary as the internal contest draws to a close.
He warned that negative campaigning and inflammatory rhetoric would ultimately undermine the party’s unity and harm individual candidates in the long run.
Reflecting on his own campaign strategy, Mr. Pyne noted that he deliberately refrained from speaking ill of any competitor throughout his tour.
“As a dedicated party loyalist, my message to constituency and regional officers focused entirely on what I bring to the table, that is advocating for the welfare of our members and working alongside the national executive to implement strategies that will secure victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections,” Mr. Pyne concluded.
