Suame Interchange: Access roads completed as main project resumes

“All access roads earmarked under the second phase of the Suame Interchange project have been completed and handed over to government,” the Suame Municipal Engineer, Jeremiah Osei, has disclosed.

According to him, “the completion of the local roads will pave the way for the first phase of the project, which involves the construction of the main Suame Interchange.”

The completed access roads include the Tarkwa Makro-Suame road, Magazine-Club 600 road and Abusuakuruwa Junction-Abrepo road.

Speaking to OTEC News reporters Anthoniette Ama Nyame and Grace Afrah on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Engineer Jeremiah Osei said, “the completed roads are expected to provide alternative routes for motorists and help ease traffic congestion on the main Suame road.”

He said, “the main interchange will soon take shape following the completion of the access roads, allowing residents to see visible progress on the project.”

Meanwhile, the Suame Municipal Chief Executive, Frank Owusu Ansah, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for the resumption of work on the Suame Interchange project.

He described the resumption as “a major relief to residents and commuters in the municipality,” following concerns over the delay in completing the project.

According to the MCE, “the project had stalled under the previous government, causing frustration among road users.”

He said, “the renewed work demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and addressing traffic congestion in Suame and surrounding communities.”

Mr. Owusu Ansah noted that “the interchange is critical to improving traffic flow and boosting economic activities within the municipality.”

He added that “the Assembly is closely monitoring progress on the project to ensure contractors deliver quality work within the stipulated timeframe.”

The MCE assured residents that “the Assembly will provide the necessary support to facilitate the smooth execution of the project.”

He expressed optimism that “the completion of the Suame Interchange will bring lasting benefits to residents, motorists, businesses in the municipality and the Ashanti Region.”
