Amansie Central winning Galamsey fight – DCE

District chief executive of Amansie central in the Ashanti region, Hon. Nana Asamoah Boateng has said that his administration is on course and doing their best to combat the galamsey menace.

Speaking in an interview with OTEC NEWS, Hon. Asabee explained that even though the fight is not an easy one, he and the Assembly are poised to join hands with President Akufo-Addo to eradicate the menace.

According to him, several offenders who were operating despite the ban on galamsey have been arrested by the Assembly and police in the area, and are currently being dealt with by the courts.

The DCE however downplayed rumours and accusations that some DCE’s at times push for the release of some illegal miners to go unpunished after they have been arrested by the Anti-Galamsey taskforce.

”it is sometimes difficult arresting some offenders, especially natives of Amansie central but nevertheless, that will not stop us from fighting galamsey”,he stated.

Hon. Asamoah Boateng however lauded the operation vanguard team in the region as he reveals that their impact has been able to clamp down on the rate of night galamsey operations since they arrived in his District.

He explains that arresting illegal miners who work at night has been a huge challenge for them because of the danger and difficulty in locating them at such time.

According to him, several illegal miners have been arrested since the introduction of the operation vanguard.

Hon. Asamoah Boateng however commended Operation Vanguard and urged for more action works to help win the fight against illegal mining.
