Paapa Yankson to be buried October 21
The late legendary highlife singer, Paapa Yankson will be laid to rest October 21 at Apam in the Central region.
The burial will be followed by the final funeral rites in Accra on the same day, the family announced during the one week celebration of the ‘Okukuseku’ hitmaker on Friday, August 4, at the Dansoman Keep Fit Grounds.
The ‘Tena Me Nkyen’ hitmaker died in his Accra home on Friday 21 July after a protracted illness.
The last time Paapa, as he was affectionately called, was seen in public was at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music awards where he picked the lifetime achievement award in March this year.
He was 72.
He is remembered for songs such as; Wiase Mu Nsem, Show Your Love, Wo Yere Anaa Wo Maame, and Tena Menkyen.
The one week celebration was graced by other musicians such as A.B Crentsil, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Alhaji Sidiku Buari, Diana Hopeson, Della Hayes, Lady Talata, Bessa Simons and Rex Omar.
