NCC Chairman chides Coach Steve Pollack

National Circles Chairman for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Mr Kwaku Amponsah popularly known as ‘chairman K5′ has chided Coach Steve Pollack for giving flimsy excuses for the poor performance of the porcupine warriors.

He believes Kumasi asante Kotoko can still beat Accra hearts of Oak in the final game of the MTN FA Cup in Tamale despite the poor performance displayed in recent games, but would take a review of coach Pollack’s tactics.

“We sometimes disagree with some of coach Pollack’s decisions. A clear instance, I was there when he was interviewed after Medeama Sc game about a disallowed penalty by the referee and he told the interviewer to go and ask the referee himself as to why he chose not to award the penalty,” he recounted.

According to him, Pollack claims the players have been away from competitive games for sometime and as a result have grown a little rusty resulting in their unimpressive performance.

”If the players have not played any games for sometime and you knew it would affect their play, what prevented you from playing friendly matches,” he asked.

”To be frank, the performance of  Kotoko has drastically declined and we are afraid that hearts of oak will dismantle Kotoko in the final game of the MTN FA Cup in Tamale on October 29th, so I think Pollack should back up with some new strategies,” he advised.

Mr Kwaku Amponsah described the coaches’ decision to substitute Kwame Boahene in the semi final game against Medeama SC as unfathomable, adding that, ”if you are to ask him, his response will be that it was a tactical decision.

Things need to change because the performance of the players against Medeama Sc wasn’t impressive especially the strikers,” he added.
