AGI Urges Government to Reduce High Energy Costs for Industries in Mid-Year Budget Review

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has appealed to the government to reduce high energy costs for industries in the upcoming mid-year budget review.

According to AGI, this move will help protect local manufacturing companies that are struggling to stay afloat due to high production costs.

The Chairman for AGI in the Bono, Ashanti, Ahafo, and Bono East Regions, Mr. Kwasi Nyamekye, made this plea in an interview with Osei Akoto Kanu on OTEC FM’s afternoon political show, Dwabrem, on Monday.

Mr. Nyamekye’s appeal comes ahead of the 2024 mid-year budget review by the Finance Minister, Hon. Mohamed Amin Adams, scheduled for July 23, 2024.

He emphasized that AGI expects the government to reduce taxes and import duties for local manufacturers to help them stay in business.
