Dr. Bawumia Promises Licenses for Small-Scale Miners during Ahafo Ano Southwest Visit
The Vice President and Presidential candidate for N-P-P Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to streamline the licensing process for small-scale miners in Ghana, aiming to provide them with the necessary permits to operate legally.
He said this during his recent visit to the Ahafo Ano Southwest District, where he engaged with local communities and stakeholders involved in the mining sector.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting small-scale miners while ensuring sustainable and responsible mining practices.
During his address, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the challenges faced by small-scale miners, including the bureaucratic hurdles in obtaining licenses and the issues of illegal mining activities.
He assured the miners that the government is taking concrete steps to simplify the licensing process, making it more accessible and transparent, by providing official licenses, the government aims to regulate the sector better, reduce illegal mining, and promote environmental sustainability.
