Election 2024: Police Deploy Security Personnel to Contain Post-Election Violence
The Ghana Police Service has deployed hundreds of security personnel to various intersections across the country to control post-election violence.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, this move aims to ensure calmness and protect citizens from further lawless acts.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi revealed that the police have recorded pockets of violent incidents in three regions: Greater Accra, Bono, and Eastern.
In the Bono Region, an individual invaded a police station, freeing suspects, but the police intervened to maintain law and order.
Similar incidents occurred in the Greater Accra and Eastern regions, where the police worked with the military to restore order.
To address these incidents, the police have intensified security measures nationwide.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi assured the public that safety would be ensured, highlighting enhanced visibility through joint patrols, intelligence-led operations, and targeted deployments at state institutions
