Mother’s Day: EKK Foundation brings joy to new mothers in Kumasi

The EKK Charity Foundation has celebrated Mother’s Day by supporting new mothers who gave birth on Sunday, May 10, 2025, at multiple hospitals in Kumasi

The EKK Charity Foundation, founded by Evans Kofi Kwafo in 2020, focuses on uplifting underserved communities in Ghana through education, health, and economic support.

However, this charitable donation by the Foundation marks the maiden edition of the initiative intended to support women who deliver their babies on Mother’s Day

The distribution of hampers containing soap,diapers, and washing powder, among other essential items, seeks to enhance the living standards of mothers and their newborns. It also echoed laughter, and the celebration resonated through the corridors of new mothers at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,Tech Hospital, Agogo Hospital, Suntreso Government Hospital and Manhyia Hospital

Speaking to newsmen during the touring of five selected hospitals in Greater Kumasi, the Chief Executive Officer for EKK Charity Foundation, Evans Kofi Kwafo noted that the motive of the initiative is geared towards lowering postnatal death and to help ease the overburdened mothers

To lower postnatal deaths, Mr Kwafo urged for improved care for both mothers and newborns, including timely postnatal checkups, breastfeeding support, advice on nutrition, and hygiene

He also emphasized the importance of seeking immediate medical attention for any danger signs in the mother or baby.

Additionally, he highlighted the value of community involvement in ensuring women get adequate rest and support.

He also urged women to avoid abandoning newborns at hospitals due to financial constraints, highlighting that support and community involvement can help prevent such situations.

Mr Kofi Kwafo, in furtherance, seized the opportunity to thank Chief of Staff Julius Debrah for supporting his charitable ideal with huge sums of money, aimed to boosting the activities of EKK Foundation

“I was overwhelmed to receive an envelope containing money from the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, through Appiah Stadium, to support this Mother’s Day donation. He also pledged to add more support whenever the foundation knocks at his door, Mr Kwafo expressed his delight
