Frimpong-Manso Institute mourns victims of devastating helicopter crash
The Frimpong-Manso Institute (FMI) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Ghana’s Minister for Defense, Dr. Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Mutarla, and six other distinguished individuals.
In a heartfelt press statement signed by Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso, President of FMI, along with Rev. COP (Rtd.) Dr. David Ampah-Bennin, Thematic Chair on Media, Security & Cyber Security, and Dr. Affail Monney, Fellow of the same thematic area, the institute described the incident as a “catastrophe of unprecedented proportions.”
“This is a moment of national mourning. A dark cloud has indeed fallen over our beloved country. The loss of these high-profile personalities is not only painful but also leaves a vacuum in our national development efforts,” the statement read.
The Institute extended condolences to the bereaved families, President John Dramani Mahama, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Ghana Armed Forces, and the entire nation. FMI acknowledged the emotional toll the tragedy has taken on the country, noting that “the sea of pain and deluge of tears in the bereaved homes are unimaginable.”
Citing Psalm 90:12 — “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” — FMI called on Ghanaians to turn to faith and unity in this difficult time, rather than giving in to conspiracy theories or political speculation.
“As prompt investigations begin to uncover the causes of this tragedy, it is important that we all refrain from speculation and instead focus on praying for divine grace and national healing,” the institute urged.
The Frimpong-Manso Institute emphasized the need for sober reflection, reminding all Ghanaians that while death is inevitable, its timing and manner remain beyond human control.
The statement concluded with a solemn prayer: “May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.”
