Four dead, one critically injured in Wakrom junction accident
A devastating collision between a DAF truck and a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle has claimed four lives and left one person critically injured at Wakrom Junction near Yamoransa on the Cape Coast-Accra Highway.
The accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Rescue Team from the Central Regional Headquarters was quickly dispatched to the scene, arriving at 2:59 p.m.
A report from the GNFS said, Upon arrival, rescuers began extricating victims from the wreckage, with five people initially freed.
Unfortunately, four of them were pronounced dead at the hospital, while one remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment.
The driver and mate of the DAF truck escaped unhurt.
The accident caused significant traffic congestion on the busy highway as emergency services worked tirelessly to save lives and clear the scene.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and investigations are expected to follow.
