One-Week-Old Baby Found Dead in Toilet Pit in Suhum

The lifeless body of a one-week-old baby boy has been retrieved from a toilet pit near Gateway Preparatory School in Ali, a suburb of Suhum in the Eastern Region.

According to a report by the Ghana National Fire Service GNFS, the lifeless body of the decease was retrieved on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
“The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to a distress call at 6:30 a.m. and retrieved the body at 7:00 a.m.”
“Preliminary investigations suggest the baby’s mother allegedly committed the act and fled the scene” The report said.
The report signed by the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer DOII Ignatius Kwame Naidoo said the body has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
The GNFS commended the Suhum Fire Rescuers for their prompt response and professionalism in handling the incident.
