Majority Caucus mourns Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

The Majority Caucus in Parliament, led by Mahama Ayariga, has extended its condolences to the family of the late former First Lady, Her Excellency, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. She was 76 years old.

“The Majority Caucus in Parliament of Ghana has learnt with shock, the reported sudden death of Her Excellency, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former 1st Lady and wife of H.E Flt Lt. J.J Rawlings and the mother of our dear, Hon. Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP for Klottey-Korle and Chairperson of the Security & Intelligence Committee of Parliament.

On behalf of the entire Majority Members of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Speaker Bagbin and the entire Parliament of Ghana, we wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family and the Nation for this great loss.
May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. She paid her dues to this Country,” the statement added.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was a pioneering advocate for women’s empowerment and social justice, widely recognised for her decades of activism through the 31st December Women’s Movement.

She served as Ghana’s First Lady from 1981 to 2001 and later became a political leader in her own right.
