Manso Nkwanta: Two arrested over mysterious death of young man at Abrense

The Manso Nkwanta District Police Command in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region has apprehended two suspects in connection with the mysterious death of a 28-year-old man, identified as Yaw Asamoah, atAbrense in the Atobiase Electoral Area.

The shocking incident, which has thrown the entire community into mourning, reportedly occurred during a funeral wake-keeping event last weekend.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was involved in a heated altercation with some commercial sex workers after accusing one of them of stealing GH¢1,000. The confrontation allegedly took place at a local drinking spot, popularly known as K.K. Spot, where sex workers usually operate.

After engaging one of them in sexual activity, Yaw Asamoah allegedly realized his money was missing and demanded it back. His demand was met with fierce resistance, sparking a commotion that drew the attention of others in the area.

Residents say the argument intensified, but later that night, the young man mysteriously disappeared. His body was found two days later in an abandoned mining pit near the community.

Speaking to journalists, Assemblyman for the Atobiase Electoral Area, Mr. Samuel Yeboah, expressed sadness and outrage over the tragic development.

“This is a heartbreaking incident that has thrown the entire community into shock. Yaw was a humble, hardworking young man who did not deserve to die in such a cruel manner,” Mr. Yeboah lamented.
“We are appealing to the police and all relevant authorities to ensure that thorough investigations are carried out and justice is served. We also urge residents to support the police with any credible information,” he added.

A brother of the deceased, who also spoke to reporters, called for justice, describing Yaw Asamoah’s death as a painful loss to the family.

“My brother was not a troublesome person. We only want the truth to come out and those responsible punished. The family is in deep pain,” he said emotionally.

Confirming the arrest, a source at the Manso Nkwanta District Police Commandrevealed that two suspects believed to be linked to the case are currently in custody, assisting with investigations.
The police added that statements from witnesses and suspects are being reviewed to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The police have assured the public and the bereaved family that justice will be pursued without compromise.

“We want to assure the public that the Command is committed to uncovering the truth. Anyone found culpable will face the full rigors of the law,” a police spokesperson said.

The tragic death of Yaw Asamoah has reignited public concern about rising insecurity and illegal activities in parts of the Amansie West District, with many residents calling for intensified police patrols and community vigilance.
