The Afua Kobi Ampem Girls Senior High School, formerly Atwimaman Secondary School, has kicked off its 50th Anniversary celebration, marking five decades of nurturing tomorrow’s leaders.

The week-long celebration, themed “Nurturing Tomorrow’s Leaders,” began on Monday, November 10, 2025, with a vibrant float through the streets of Kumasi.

OTEC News reporter Ama Nyame reports that the float, which started at the Centre for National Culture (Cultural Centre), passed through Bantama, Abrepo, and Sofoline, showcasing the school’s rich history and achievements since its establishment in 1975.

Ms. Abigail Effeh Mensah, Assistant Headmistress (Domestic) and Secretary to the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, said the float was organized to showcase the school’s legacy and excellence.

“Today’s float is to announce their 50 years of excellence and to celebrate many professionals they’ve trained, including nurses, lawyers, and teachers,” she said.

The grand durbar, scheduled for Saturday, November 15, will climax the celebration, with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as the Special Guest of Honour.

According to School Counselor, Mrs. Felicia Morrison, the week’s activities will include a health walk, inter-house competitions, and a homecoming for old students.

The celebration is expected to be a memorable one, highlighting the school’s commitment to academic excellence and leadership development.
