Ashanti Region to receive 470,000 birds under Nkoko Nketenkete Program – Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amaakohene, has announced that the Ashanti Region will receive a total of 470,000 birds under the government’s flagship program, Nkoko Nketenkete.

According to the Minister, all 47 constituencies in the region will receive 10,000 birds each, which will be given out to individuals and households who register to be part of the program.

Dr. Amaakohene made this announcement during his opening remarks at the launch of the program in Kumasi, saying, “Let me commend the President for this thoughtful program; vulnerable homes who will be part of the program will be empowered to be economically viable.”

He added, “This project will not only boost Ghana’s economy, but will create jobs for the youth.” Dr. Frank Amaakohene called on the youth to take advantage of the program and empower themselves.
The program, inaugurated by President John Dramani Mahama, is expected to produce three million birds nationwide.
The launch took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Kumasi.
