Lumba’s Funeral :Family cites  4 major  Reasons to reject December 13 funeral date

The family of the late Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has expressed shock and disappointment over the unilateral actions of Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu and the dissolved funeral committee, who announced a December funeral date without consulting the family.

In a press release on Tuesday , the family cited four major reasons why the funeral must be postponed, including the fact that some of Daddy Lumba’s children abroad are writing critical examinations, autopsy and investigations into his death are still ongoing, immediate family members abroad need time to apply for leave, and international friends and community need time to attend.

“The December funeral date announced by Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu and the dissolved committee is both impossible and irresponsible,” the family stated.

“Expecting our children to combine grief with high-stakes examinations is cruel, unfair, and psychologically harmful.”

The family also expressed concern that burying Daddy Lumba before the investigations into his death are concluded would be “not only irresponsible but highly suspicious”.

The family has urged the public to disregard the announced funeral date and wait for further updates from the newly constituted committee.
