A/R – Mpasatia residents, chiefs burns suspected “wee” ghettos’

The Mpasatia Traditional Council in the Atwima Mponua District has intensified efforts to fight drug abuse by pulling down and burning a known “wee smokers’ ghetto” in the community.
The exercise, led by the Kyidomhene of Mpasatia, Nana Yaw Adjei, with the support of local authorities and community youth, forms part of measures to curb illegal drug activities and related social vices in the area.
Addressing residents after the operation on January 16, 2026, Nana Yaw Adjei raised concern over the increasing involvement of the youth in drug use, noting that such acts threaten the moral fabric and reputation of the town.
He stressed that the traditional council is determined to protect the community and guide the youth towards responsible and productive lifestyles.
The Mmarantehene of Mpasatia, Nana Osei Asibey, described drug abuse as a growing danger that is gradually destroying the future of the youth.
He emphasized that the traditional authority will not tolerate the existence of drug dens in the community, adding that the action taken is meant to disrupt the activities of drug users and dealers, while encouraging those addicted to seek help.
