A/R: GWL Shut Down Owabi Treatment Plant Over 25 Communities Affected

The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the temporary shutdown of the Owabi Water Treatment Plant due to a technical issue with the high-lift pump.
The shutdown, effective from Monday, January 26, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., will affect water supply to several areas, in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking to OTEC news Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Tuesday, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer for GWL Ebenezer Pardi Narh said areas affected includes Asuoyeboah, Tanoso, Apatrapa, and surrounding communities.
Other areas such as Abuakwa, Esaase, Akropong, Toase, Afari, Nkawie Abrepo, Bohyen, Mpasatia, Wioso, Mfensi, Maakro, Mim among othes will have no water supply
He noted GWL engineers are working to resolve the issue and restore water production as quickly as possible.
Ebenezer Narh expressed concern over the problem and urged Affected customers are advised to make necessary arrangements.
“The management apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates customers’ patience and understanding”.
