Police destroy millions in tramadol, sex enhancing drugs in Ashanti Region

The Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region has destroyed sex-enhancing and other illicit drugs worth millions of cedis.

The drugs, including Tramadol, Hyergra 200, Indian hemp, and Benyilin Codeine, were destroyed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

The Station Officer for the Drug Law Enforcement Unit, Inspector Nkrumah, said dozens of people have been arrested in connection with the drugs and have been arraigned before court.

“These drugs were seized last year, others were seized just this year, and our laws allow us to destroy them,” he said.

Inspector Nkrumah added that intelligence operations helped the police arrest drug dealers peddling drugs in the Ashanti Region.

He warned that no drug peddler will be spared in their operations, urging the youth and traders to desist from dealing drugs.

“The law calls for strict punishment for drug peddlers, and we will enforce such conditions and ensure drug dealers are brought to book,” Inspector Nkrumah emphasized.
