Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Dr Bryan Acheampong has thrown his full support behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia following the latter’s victory in the party’s presidential primary.

Speaking shortly after the results were declared, Acheampong congratulated Bawumia and called for party unity and discipline as the NPP prepares for the next general election.
“I congratulate my senior brother and patriot, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on his victory. I wish him every success as he leads our party forward,” he said.
Acheampong disclosed that he had personally reached out to the newly elected flagbearer.
“I called him earlier this evening to let him know he has my full support.”
He also expressed gratitude to his family and party elders, including former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo, for their guidance throughout the contest.
Thanking fellow aspirants and the party’s Presidential Elections Committee, Acheampong described the primary as professionally organised.
Now, he said, the focus must shift to restoring public confidence in the party.
“Now more than ever, the NPP must stand united as one family. Our collective responsibility is to rebuild trust with Ghanaians, strengthen our structures, and prepare decisively for victory in 2028,” he said.
“Unity, discipline, and purpose must guide our next steps.”
He reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s ideals and to national service.
“I remain fully committed to the ideas and ideals of our party, and to the service of Ghana.”
The endorsements from former contenders are seen as part of efforts to quickly close ranks after the internal race and project cohesion ahead of the national campaign season.
