While a definitive cause of the fire is under investigation, preliminary reports suggest the fire may have been triggered by a mechanical fault in one of the vehicles being serviced the night before the fire and parked at the station.
According to reports, one of the drivers was sleeping inside one of the packed vehicles when he smelt the smoke coming from one of the cars and discovered the vehicle was on fire.
The fire extended from the Prejio to one Kia and two tricycles (Okada) that were packed closed to the area where the fire began
With the help of nearby residents, they were able to put out the fire before firefighters arrived at the scene
Firefighters from the Manhyia Division later arrived to contain the blaze and prevent it from reaching the fuel pumps.
