Police arrest four suspects over Ohwim Tigo Junction robbery and murder

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects in connection with the robbery and murder at Owhim Tigo Junction in Kumasi.

The incident, which occurred on February 10, 2026, resulted in the death of the victim, Mr. Andrews Amankwah, who was shot and his Toyota Hilux vehicle snatched.

Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, announced the breakthrough at a press briefing at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters on Monday February 23,2026 .

“I am happy to announce that we have arrested four suspects, including three members of the gang that was responsible for the attack,” he said.

According to Mr. Yohuno, the police investigation led to the arrest of the suspects, who were found to be part of a syndicate specializing in snatching pick-up and Land Cruiser vehicles. The gang leader, Eric Antwi Duku, was killed during the operation.

The police investigation revealed that the syndicate had contacts in Paga, Offinso, and Dubai, and had been linked to similar robberies in Tarkwa, Kumasi, and other parts of the Ashanti region.

The suspects have been charged with possession of stolen property and are currently in police custody.

The Regional Commander, who was present at the briefing, shared further details of the investigation, highlighting the police’s commitment to tackling crime in the region.

Mr. Yohuno emphasized that the police will continue to pursue criminal elements and bring them to justice.

The case is ongoing, with the police urging the public to provide any information that may aid in the investigation.

 The Inspector-General of Police reiterated the police’s commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators of the crime face justice, stating, “No matter how far they run or how much they hide, we will pursue them to dismantle their activities and bring them to justice.”
