Man commits suicide after girlfriend’s family allegedly rejects his marriage proposal
33-Year-Old man Dies by Suicide After Family Rejects Marriage Proposal to Girlfriend He Dated for a Month
A 33-year-old man, identified as Agya Kweku, has tragically taken his own life after his request to marry his fiancée was repeatedly denied by her family.
The incident occurred on a cocoa farm in the Eastern Region.
According to a report by Ebenezer Manso-Cudjoe on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, Agya Kweku had been dating the woman for only a month.
Intending to formalize the relationship without delay, he approached her family to propose marriage. However, the family reportedly refused his request.
Despite his persistence—visiting the family on three separate occasions—he was rejected each time.
The rejection reportedly took a heavy toll on Agya Kweku’s mental state.
While working on a farm last Friday, he expressed deep disappointment and began exhibiting signs of distress.
On Saturday, he asked to use his mother’s phone to make a call.
Shortly after, he went to his uncle’s cocoa farm, where he allegedly shot himself.
The news has shocked the residents of Akyim Kyereso and left Agya Kweku’s family in deep mourning.
Speaking to the media, his uncle, Uncle Yaw, noted that while his nephew had shown signs of worry regarding the marriage, there were no clear indications that he intended to take his own life.
”Our son was already making preparations for the marriage,” Uncle Yaw stated, noting the family’s devastation over the sudden loss.
