Police arrest “duabo king” over false allegations against officers

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested Isaac Boafo, a 45-year-old social media content creator, for publishing false news with intent to cause fear and panic.

Boafo, also known as “Duabo King,” was apprehended following a viral TikTok video where he falsely alleged that four police officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi engaged in misconduct with commercial sex workers during a night patrol.

According to the police, Boafo admitted to making the allegations solely to attract views and online engagement, stating he could not substantiate the claims.

“He is a social media content creator who made the allegations solely to attract views and online engagement,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit.

Boafo also acknowledged making comments about the President of Ghana, admitting he could not defend those statements.

He has been formally charged and detained to assist with further investigations.

“The Police wish to caution the public against the publication and circulation of false information, particularly on social media, as such acts have the potential to cause unnecessary fear, panic, and reputational damage,” DSP Ahianyo warned.

The police are urging the public to verify information before sharing to avoid causing harm and face legal consequences.

“Persons found engaging in such conduct will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
