Bekwai Amoafo in fear after woman found dead in suspected suicide

Residents of Bekwai Amoafo in the Ashanti Region have been thrown into a state of fear and panic following the discovery of a woman who reportedly took her own life in a cocoa farm under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased, believed to be in her 30s and not a resident of the community, was found hanging from a cocoa tree, leaving residents shocked and deeply unsettled.

Assemblyman for the area, Hon. Dickson, described the incident as unprecedented, noting that such a tragedy has never been recorded in the community.

“This is the first time such a tragedy has occurred here, and it has brought fear and panic to our people,” he stated.

He added that efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased and locate her family.

“We are working closely with the authorities to trace her relatives and also understand what may have led to this unfortunate incident,” he said.

The body has since been conveyed to the morgue, while police have commenced investigations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.

Many residents, still reeling from the shocking development, have expressed worry and unease over the situation, with some calling for increased security and community awareness.

Hon. Dickson, who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, assured residents of their safety and urged calm as investigations continue.

“We want to assure everyone that we will cooperate fully with the police to uncover the truth, while also supporting anyone who may be affected by this incident,” he assured.
