Asawase: One shot dead, two injured in land dispute

A fatal shooting incident has claimed one life and left two others critically injured following an alleged land dispute at Nyalewa in the Asawase Constituency, a suburb of Kumasi.


The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at about 6:00 a.m., throwing the community into a state of fear and panic.

According to an eyewitness account, the violence erupted after a disagreement over land ownership between two individuals who are yet to be identified .
One party, who reportedly purchased the land, was confronted by another man who claimed rightful ownership, leading to a gunshot attack that resulted in one death and left two others in critical condition.
Police swiftly intervened to restore calm and transported the injured victims to the Manhyia Government Hospital for urgent medical attention, while the suspect has since been arrested and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
