Ashanti South police arrest alleged brothel operator in Manso Watreso raid

Police in the Ashanti South Region say they have arrested a 28-year-old Nigerian woman suspected of operating an illegal brothel during a raid at Manso Watreso.

The suspect, identified as Esther Egbuhama, is alleged to be the owner of a facility known as Mama Nice Lodge, which authorities say was being used as a brothel.

According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service Ashanti South Regional Command, the operation was carried out on April 19 after intelligence indicated illegal activities at the location.

Police said the raid led to the arrest of the alleged operator, while other suspects linked to the facility managed to escape.

The suspect is currently in custody at Manso Nkwanta as investigations continue.

Authorities said operating a brothel is a criminal offence under Ghanaian law and warned that similar operations will continue across the jurisdiction to clamp down on illegal activities.

The statement was signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, the Ashanti South Regional Commander.

Police say further action will be taken after investigations are completed.
