Three arrested over Sabon Zongo lynching of Yusuf Zakari, remanded by court
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested and arraigned three suspects in connection with the murder of Yusuf Zakari, who was allegedly lynched at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi.
According to the Police, the incident occurred in the early hours of 19th July 2026. Preliminary investigations indicate the victim was attacked by a group of persons at a cattle kraal in Sabon Zongo.
He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital.
He was later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The three suspects have been identified as Moses Adoko, 37, a plumber; Abubakari Adams, 25, a herdsman; and Nurudeen Suleman, 35, a motor mechanic.
The suspects were arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Mrs. Hilder Esther Wryter.
The Court remanded all three into Police custody, and they are scheduled to reappear on 7th August 2026.
The Police say further investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest any other persons involved.
In a statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, on Tuesday, the Command urged the public to desist from mob justice.
“The Ashanti Regional Police Command urges members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to report suspected criminal activities to the Police for lawful action.”
The Command is also appealing for information to aid investigations.
