Obuasi Sec Tech headmaster accused of rape, sexual harassment by students

The Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Abdulai Zakaria, has been accused by some students of alleged rape and sexual harassment.

One of the alleged victims’ fathers, Mr. Kwabena Egyir, told newsmen that he reported the matter to the police in Obuasi Township four days ago after his 20-year-old daughter allegedly complained of being sexually assaulted by the headmaster.

According to Mr. Egyir, his daughter was subsequently taken to the Obuasi Government Hospital, where she underwent medical examination. He said a medical report was issued following the examination.

Mr. Egyir said the family is awaiting the outcome of investigations into the allegation and is seeking justice for his daughter.

Meanwhile, another student has accused the headmaster of sexually harassing her after allegedly inviting her to his room.

She alleged that the headmaster asked her to massage him with oil and later instructed her to fondle his penis.

A third student has also accused Mr. Zakaria of sexual assault, alleging that he fondled her breasts before inserting his fingers into her vagina.

The student further alleged that the headmaster threatened her against disclosing the incident to anyone.

She said the alleged conduct has caused her considerable distress and that she is contemplating abandoning her education because of what she described as the headmaster’s behaviour.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and the headmaster has not been given an opportunity to respond to the accusations in the information available.

The police are expected to investigate the allegations and establish the facts surrounding the reported incidents.
