Bagbin recalls Parliament

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has recalled Parliament from recess to sit for five days to consider what he describes as urgent parliamentary business.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, August 12, the Speaker directed Members of Parliament to return to the House from Monday, August 24, to Friday, August 28, 2026.

The recall, which was made under Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of Parliament, comes less than three weeks after the House was adjourned on July 31.

Parliament was initially expected to remain on recess until October, but the Speaker has now directed MPs to resume sitting at noon on Monday, August 24, at Parliament House in Accra.

The notice, however, did not specify the urgent parliamentary business that necessitated the recall.
