New Minerals Commission office in Kumasi to serve as licensing examination centre – CEO
The Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Mr. Isaac Tandoh, has disclosed that the newly commissioned office complex in the Ashanti Region will serve as the designated centre for the Inspectorate Division Licence Examination.
According to him, this initiative will reduce cost, save time and ensure easy access to mining licences for all qualified Ghanaians.
He revealed this when the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources together with the Minerals Commission opened the new office complex on Monday.
He noted that the multipurpose office will also house a two-storey laboratory to provide specialized technical facilities for mineral testing, sample preparation, analysis, quality assurance, research collaboration and regulatory monitoring.
Mr. Tandoh said the facility will strengthen the Commission’s ability to deliver reliable technical services, improve response time, enhance technical credibility and enable efficient assessment of mineral samples.
He added that the office also features a museum and public education facility which will showcase Ghana’s rich mineral endowment, mining history, geological features and responsible mining practices, to improve access to regulatory services in the region.
