Two dead, 6 injured in Accra-Kumasi Highway crash

Two persons have died with six others injured in a fatal accident at Dr. Marbel Junction on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The crash which occurred on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, involved a DAF truck with registration number BF 1722E6, a VW Sprinter bus ER 195-24, and a tricycle (Pragia) M-25-AS 8071.

According to the Suhum Municipal Fire Station, a distress call was received at 1121hrs and a crew of five officers led by STNOII Darkwah Fobi Prince was dispatched at , arriving at the scene


Upon arrival, the crew discovered one casualty trapped under the DAF truck and quickly deployed extrication equipment to rescue the victim, who was freed and transported to Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the DAF truck experienced brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the VW Sprinter bus, which then collided with the parked tricycle.
In all, six individuals — five males and one female — were injured, while two fatalities, one female and one male, were recorded.

The front sections of the DAF truck and VW Sprinter bus sustained partial damage, while the tricycle was completely destroyed.


The crew, together with the Ghana Police Service, left the scene at 1234hrs and returned to base at 1236hrs, with the Eastern Regional Fire Command urging motorists to regularly service their vehicles and exercise caution to prevent such incidents.
