The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and his wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, have visited the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., as part of the Asantehene’s ongoing engagements in the United States.
The royal couple visited the institution on August 31, 2026, where they were warmly received by Steve and Jackie Green, founders of the Museum of the Bible.
The visit offered Otumfuo and Lady Julia an opportunity to tour the facility and explore its exhibitions centred on the history, narrative and global impact of the Bible.
The Museum of the Bible, which opened in 2017, is a major cultural and educational institution in Washington dedicated to exploring the Bible’s history, preservation and impact on societies around the world.
Tthe museum grew partly out of the Green family’s extensive collection of biblical manuscripts and artefacts.
The visit forms part of a wider programme of engagements by the Asantehene during his stay in the United States, where he has been interacting with institutions, and members of the Ghanaian community.
Among the major highlights of his visit was an engagement with the Ghanaian community, as well as the Akwasidae celebration, which brought aspects of Asante culture and tradition to the Ghanaian diaspora.
Otumfuo was also scheduled to deliver a lecture at Howard University in Washington, D.C., as part of his engagements in the U.S.
His itinerary has also included discussions with business and institutional stakeholders, reflecting his continued engagements on issues relating to Ghana’s development, culture, education and international relations.
