In a major boost to the internal reorganisation drive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party’s Nhyiaeso Constituency Chairman, Kwadwo Owusu Bempah, has pledged to supply all required aggregate stones and chippings free of charge for the construction of a permanent Ashanti Regional secretariat.

Mr. Bempah, an established quarry operator and businessman, made the commitment during a solidarity visit to the newly inaugurated temporary regional party office in Ridge, Kumasi.

The courtesy call was aimed at conferring with the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known within political circles as “COKA” and to reaffirm local executive support for COKA’s regional development agenda.

Addressing regional executives and constituency stakeholders during the meeting, Mr. Bempah emphasized that bolstering physical party infrastructure is crucial for operational efficiency as the elephant family works to rebuild its grassroots foundation.

“As a businessman deeply invested in seeing the NPP reclaim executive power, I am committed to putting my resources at the service of our political family,” Bempah declared.

He added that, “I operate a specialized unit at my quarry site dedicated to aggregate production. Once the sod is officially cut for the construction of our permanent regional secretariat, wherever the site may be, the party will not spend a single cedi on chippings. I will supply the entire volume needed for the project free of cost.”

Strategic Reorganisation:

The gesture comes at a critical juncture for Ghana’s primary opposition party following its defeat in the December 2024 general elections to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Ashanti Region, traditionally recognized as the NPP’s primary electoral fortress serves as the strategic nerve center for any realistic path back to government.

Following the 2024 election cycle, Chairman COKA launched an ambitious administrative overhaul.

Key deliverables on his agenda include:

Establishing an operational temporary regional office in Kumasi to streamline daily administrative workflows.

Acquiring land and constructing a modern, purpose-built permanent regional headquarters.

Re-engaging constituency executives to unify factional fronts ahead of upcoming internal elections.

Encouragement:

Encouraging Chairman COKA to remain steadfast despite the daunting task of rallying the electoral stronghold, Mr. Bempah urged regional leaders to maintain focus on internal unity.

He noted that a fortified regional structure would provide the necessary foundation to support party leaders—including former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in positioning the NPP for victory in the upcoming national political cycle.

With constituency executives stepping forward to fund key aspects of the building project, regional leadership expressed optimism that the ground-breaking ceremony for the new secretariat will take place in the coming months.
