13 dead, 5 injured in gory accident on Sege-Ada highway

Thirteen people have been confirmed dead in a fatal road accident involving a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace on the Sege Highway on the Ada road in the Greater Accra Region

The accident occurred on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as the two vehicles were travelling from the Sege Highway towards Ada.

Officers from the Sege Fire Station responded swiftly to the incident and attended to the victims at the scene.

According to a report by Assistant Divisional Officer Isaac Kojo Opoku of the Public Relations Department of the Ghana National Fire Service Headquarters, 18 people were involved in the crash.

He confirmed that 13 persons lost their lives, while the remaining five sustained critical injuries and have been transported to the Sege Polyclinic for medical attention.

He expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a swift and full recovery.

Further details on the cause of the accident and the identities of the victims are expected as investigations continue.
