The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has directed members with parliamentary ambitions to immediately cease all activities with campaign undertones ahead of the official opening of nominations.
The directive, issued by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) on Tuesday, September 14, follows concerns over activities being undertaken by some members in various constituencies with apparent parliamentary ambitions.
The party said such premature activities could undermine its unity, cohesion and orderly functioning, and has therefore directed all members involved to discontinue them.
It has also directed Regional, Constituency, Branch and other party officers to ensure compliance with the directive and report any breaches to the appropriate party authorities.
“The NDC remains committed to a transparent, orderly and credible process for selecting its Parliamentary Candidates. The Party will, at the appropriate time, officially communicate the opening of nominations and the applicable guidelines,” the statement added.
The party subsequently urged all members to respect its established processes and maintain discipline in the interest of party unity.
