Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate, has received the royal blessings of Asantehemaa Nana Yaa Akyaa II during his first official courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The visit aimed to congratulate the Asante Queen on her ascension and and to seek her spiritual backing for his presidential campaign ahead of the 2028 election.
Dr Bawumia was accompanied by several party stalwarts.
Notable among them were former Suame MP, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; Bantama MP, Francis Asenso-Boakye; Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei; Advisor on Gender and Social Protection to the flagbearer, Akosua Manu; and Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Amoako Asiama.
Her Majesty offered prayers for the former Vice President, noting that leadership is ultimately chosen by God.
Dr. Bawumia expressed deep admiration for Her Majesty, saying, “God put you in this seat. You are blessed, and I pray that God will preserve you, give you long life, and good health.”
