Govt resolves financial hurdles for Kejetia Phase two and three – Local Govt Minister

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, says government has resolved the financial challenges that stalled the second and third phases of the Kejetia – Central Market Redevelopment Project.
According to him, with the resolution of the bottlenecks, the contractor will soon resume work on the project.
He disclosed this on Saturday when he visited traders affected by the fire outbreak at the Kumasi Central Market.
“I can say confidently that we have resolved the issues that held phase two from being completed,” he stated.
“Very soon the contractor will return to site to complete phase two of the project.”
The Minister said this will enable more traders to get befitting places to work.
He further disclosed that financial arrangements for phase three of the project have also been catered for.
He emphasized that completing phases two and three will increase the stock of available trading spaces and help solve the problem of overcrowding and hawking on pavements in the Kumasi Metropolis.
