Over 2,000 join Ejurahene for Ejura Yam Festival health walk

Over two thousand individuals joined the Chief of Ejura Divisional Council, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, for the Ejura Yam Festival health walk.
The health walk on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, saw groups and individuals from different tribes and community members joining Ejurahene and his chiefs.
The walk comes after Ejurahene together with his chiefs opened the 2026 Sekyerene Festival with a Muslim prayer on Friday and a massive cleanup exercise on Saturday.
Addressing the mammoth gathering after the walk, Barimah Osei Hwedie II expressed his gratitude to all who joined the walk.
“I am overwhelmed with the numbers and your presence here today, you all have shown the love you have for Ejuraman and together we will develop our homeland,” he said.
“As your leader, our doors are always open for like-minded people who wish to help develop and prepare a better future for posterity,” Barimah Osei Hwedie II added.
Barimah Osei Hwedie II however called on the public to join the grand durbar for the festival slated for 24th October, where he will sit in state together with his elders for seasonal greetings.
The 2026 Ejura Yam Festival is being held under the theme “Sekyerene: Celebrating Ejura’s Rich Yam Heritage, Advancing Agriculture Innovation, Agribusiness and Sustainable Community Development”
As part of the arrangement, Barimah Osei Hwedie II will on Friday, 23rd October, again visit the Stool Room to conduct traditional rites and rituals for the community.
The festival will climax on Saturday, 24th October with a mammoth durbar, where Ejurahene will sit in state to receive greetings from the people of Ejura.
The Planning Committee says the festival is expected to attract high-profile personalities, including top political figures from the Presidency, the Ashanti Region and other parts of the country, with the Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong also expected to grace the occasion.
