Aduaben queen mother leads residents’ engagement to promote transparency in lands administration

The queen mother of Aduaben in the Bosomtwe District Assembly of the Ashanti region, Nana Ama Kyifa II, has engaged residents of the community on issues relating to land acquisition, allocation and ownership as part of efforts to promote transparency, accountability and peaceful land administration in the traditional area.

The engagement, organised in collaboration with the Bosomtwe District Assembly, provided an opportunity for residents to gain a better understanding of the processes involved in acquiring land, obtaining allocation documents and securing valid land lease agreements.

Technical Head at the Physical Planning Department at the Bosomtwe District Assembly, Mr Anthony Mensah, who led the educational session, took participants through the procedures for acquiring land, explaining the importance of obtaining proper allocation letters, lease documents and other relevant records to establish legitimate ownership.

He also educated residents on the need to follow the appropriate procedures in land transactions to avoid disputes and complications associated with land ownership.

Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions on various land-related concerns, with Mr Menaah providing explanations and guidance to help address their concerns and improve their understanding of land administration.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Ama Kyifa II called on companies and institutions operating within her traditional jurisdiction to submit original documents relating to the allocation, acquisition and ownership of lands under their control for verification.

She explained that the exercise was intended to review and properly document lands within the area, ensuring that all land allocations were duly verified and appropriately recorded in the interest of peace, transparency and the continued development of the community.

Nana Ama Kyifa II encouraged residents who required further clarification or information on land-related matters to feel free to visit her palace at Aduaben for assistance.

The queen mother also assured residents, particularly farmers whose lands might be affected by future development projects, that appropriate arrangements would be made to reallocate land to them to enable them to continue their farming activities and sustain their livelihoods.

She stressed the importance of ensuring that community development did not disregard the interests and livelihoods of residents, adding that peace and cooperation were essential to the progress of Aduaben.

The engagement forms part of efforts by the Aduaben Traditional Authority to strengthen land administration, address ownership concerns and establish proper documentation to support orderly development within the community.
