
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, affectionately known as ‘Wontumi’, who is determined to retain his position today made a triumphant entry to Adansi- Asokwa to kick start his re-election campaign as he called for unity among members of the party.
Chairman Wontuni declared: “We cannot unite for strength if the party is to be attractive to others to be able to retain power in 2020.”
Speaking to delegates at Adansi -Asokwa, Chairman Wontumi observed that there was the need for unity in the NPP in order for the party to retain power in the 2020 general election, stating that unity was necessary in order for the party to become the choice of the masses in the next election.
He promised to merge the older members of the party with the youth to stimulate unity of purpose for progress.
He promised to bring a new visionary leadership to the party to make it more attractive to all and sundry.
Mr. Benard Antwi- Boasiako promised to annex every seat in the region to the party adding that winning every parliamentary seat in the region is part of his main agenda before he exits office.
Out of the 47 seats in the region, the NPP won 44 while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won 3 at the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.
“Before I end my tenure as a regional chairman of this party, every single parliamentary seat in the Ashanti region will be in the hands of the great NPP party in Ashanti” he said.
He donated GHC5, 000 and 6 water dispensers to the constituencies to each of the six constituencies he visited.
Among his entourage were Mr FF Antoh, the National First Vice Chairman as well as many prominent fugues in the party.
