NLC lacks logistics to operate, make it powerful- Labour Expert to gov’t
Labour Consultant and Civil engineer Mr. Ben Arthur, has urged government to make the National Labour Commission (NLC) a biting institution so they can fight for the rights of workers in the country.

According to Mr Arthur, most Ghanaian workers were taken for granted and cheated by their employers.

Speaking in an interview with Otecnews’ Evans Agyei Sikapa on the recent unrest between workers and authorities of the Tarkwa Goldfields mines, Mr Arthur expressed shock on how government has under resourced the NLC in the discharge of its duties.

He questioned why an institution like the electoral commission could have offices in all districts across the country whilst the labour commission which plays a vital role in seeking the welfare of workers lacked such offices as well as logistics.

He therefore entreated government to work through the Labour and employment ministry, to lift up the NLC from its wretch state.

Mr Arthur however, called on workers in the country and organised Labour to fight for their rights by lodging complaints of bad treatment by employers to the appropriate institution for redress.
