OTEC FM’s ‘ASEM BEBA DABI’ crew donates to amputated woman

As part of its social responsibility, the crew of OTEC FM’s flagship afternoon social program “ASEMBEBA DABI” has donated an undisclosed amount of money to madam Milicent Kyeraa, a resident of Krofrom-CPC in Kumasi, Ashanti region to enable her settle her rent.

Thirty-five-year-old Milicent Kyeraa, a single parent who appeared on the “ASEM BEBA DABI” show a fortnight ago shared her ordeal on how she got both hands amputated and lost her place of trading at the Kumasi racecourse market where she sold salt to cater for her only child and herself.

Narrating her ordeal, Madam Kyeraa said she was at her shop around racecourse one day when she collapsed and was sent to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching hospital for treatment where she was diagnosed as a diabetic patient.

She said a few days after, both of her hands began to swell and felt itchy. She explained the doctors later informed her that the hands needed to be amputated to save her life.

“It was very hard to comply by the decision from the doctors but I  had no option than to agree. After the surgery, I lost my trading centre as well as settling my rent and utility bills became a problem” she recounted in a sober voice.

“My landlord is threatening to eject me since I cannot pay for my rent. l have no one to help me so I have come here to seek for your help,” She cried on the ASEM BEBA DABI show.

Madam Kyeraa said her 16 -year old daughter had to stop school and sell sachet water on the street to cater for them since there was no help.

According to the host of ASEM BEBA DABI show, Krobea Nana Yaw Asante, they realized the woman’s situation was terrible and embarrassing hence their decision to help her pay her rent for the next three years.

He said the money was not raised by the ASEM BEBA DABI team alone but some listeners of the program also contributed to aid the poor woman get a comfortable residence.

Krobea Asante further added that the team is planning to establish a provision shop for her to alleviate madam Kyeraa’s suffering.

He is, therefore, appealing to the general public and good citizens of Ghana and ASEM BEBA DABI fans to support him to build the shop and stock it with goods.
