Eastern region: Irate mob roasts goat thief alive in car

A suspected armed robber, who was allegedly part of a gang that rustled a herd of goats at Tenguanya near Klo Agogo, and also gunned down two residents who gave them chase on motorbikes during their getaway, has been lynched by an angry mob in a community called Huhunya by burning him alive.

The suspect was tied with a rope, locked in the boot of the same car he and his gang had used for the heist, and set alight by the angry mob, who mounted a roadblock at Huhunya to foist his escape.

The car, with registration number GW 4151 – 19, got charred along with the suspect’s body.

Meanwhile, the two residents, who were killed by the suspect and his gang, have been identified as Jerry Tettehfio and Aaron Padi Attarmah.

Their bodies have been deposited at the Eastern Regional Hospital morgue in Koforidua.

The other members of the gang escaped in the bush during the chase.

The police command in the area has visited the scene of the mob action and started investigating the matter.
