[Photos] Asantehemaa laid in state at Manhyia

The late queen mother of the Asante Kingdom, Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II has been laid in state at the Manhyia Palace. Mourners are expected to file past the body until Thursday when she would finally be buried.

According to reports from the Manhyia palace , the body of the late Asantehemaa will no more be taken to the St Cyprian’s Anglican church because the church cannot accommodate the size of the chiefs and citizens who would want to join the sevice.

The Church service will be done at the Manhyia palace park where the burial service is currently ongoing.

 

President Akufo-Addo is expected to be there with other dignitaries from neighboring countries to join the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu (the second) to mourn.

There is heavy security presence at the Manhyia palce and various streets have been blocked.

Fetish priests snd priestesses have been seen displaying at the venue.

Nananom in the Asante Kingdom are filling past the late Queen mother.

This will happen till 11am when Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will file past his late mother.

Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II who died at the age of 111 in November 2016 will be buried in Breman on Thursday.

As part of the arrangements for her burial of the Queenmother, no one is to be seen on the streets from Bantama to Breman, from 6:00pm of Thursday, 19th January to 3:00am of Friday 20th January.

Manhyia in an earlier statement, warned that it will not be held accountable for the lives of people and domestic animals that are seen loitering outside at the said time.
