Offinso Asamankama chieftaincy clash kills two

Two people have been shot dead during a clash at the installation of a chief at Asamankama in the Offinso South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The now-deceased persons, Nana Kwame Danka and Nana Akwasi Appiagyei, according to the regional police command, were members of the royal families in the area.

They got shot as they protested the enthronement of one of the multiple successors to the throne.

Nana Akwasi Appiagyei was killed with his own pump-action gun taken from his car by a marauding crowd.

He did not make it at the St. Patrick Hospital.

Nana Kusi also died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The police has retrieved two empty cartridges from the crime scene as evidence for prosecution of the organisers of the event for failing to inform the law enforcement body prior to the installation.

As part of the investigation, the queen mother has been invited.

No arrests have been made yet.
