Bogoso explosion: President directs Dr Bawumia to lead National Emergency Response Team

The President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has directed the Vice president Dr Mahamadu Bawumia to take charge of the National Emergency Response Team in the rescue mission at Bogoso explosion disaster.
This was disclosed by the Executive Director of Environmenttal Protection Agency Hon Henry Kwabena Kokofu on Friday January 21, 2022.
The directive according to him forms part of efforts by government to protect lives and properties affected by the explosion.
Speaking to Captain Koda, host of “Nyansapo”, a social Program on the Kumasi based OTEC FM, Mr Kokofu said the EPA have also send a team to help the victims

At least 17 people have been confirmed dead after a huge explosion at Appiatse a surburb of Bogoso in the Western Region of Ghana.
A report by the Ministry of information said at Many people are feared dead and several injured in an explosion that happened at Appiatse , a suburb of Bogoso in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality.
According to eyewitnesses, there was a head-on collision between a motorbike and a vehicle carrying a container with what is suspected to be mining explosives after which the vehicle caught fire.
Few minutes after the collision, the vehicle exploded, affecting hundreds of homes in the area.
Meanwhile the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo earlier on expressed sadness about the unfortunate incident which resulted to scores of residents in the area.
President Akufo-Addo extended wishes of Godspeed to the injured, while consoling the bereaved families.
