MAHAMA CAN NOT BE TRUSTED IN FIGHTING AGAISNT CORRUPTION – HON OSEI PREMPEH
A former deputy Attorney General in erstwhile Kufour administration Hon Kwame Osei Prempeh says President John Dramani Mahama’s inability to confront and fight corruption within his own administration and the NDC Party is because he (Mahama) is unable to offer credible answers to serious allegations of corruption raised against his person.
According to Hon Kwame Osei Prempeh, the president cannot point to one example where the exposure of corruption has come from the NDC government.
He stressed that each scandal that has been exposed in Mahama’s government was done by the media, civil society groups or the Minority in Parliament.
Speaking on transparency and accountability to the teeming supporters at the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) manifesto launch at the Sunyani Coronation Park in the Brong Ahafo Region on Saturday, President Mahama reacted to criticisms about corruption.
But speaking on OTEC FM’S Dwabrem Progeamme hosted by Nana Kwabena Ampratwum , a former NPP MP for Nsuata Kwarmang, Hon Kwame Osei Prempeh claimed many of the processes President Mahama led in Government when he was the Vice President, were deeply tainted with suspicions of corruption for his personal gain especially during the purchase of five airplanes to Ghana Arm Forces from Brazil.
”It is clear from the actions taken on cases like Judgment Debts, World Cup saga, GYEEDA, SADA, DVLA saga, the Metro Mass branding, etc, that the fight against corruption is a sham. I say it again, the so called fight against corruption is a sham”, Hon Kwame Osei Prempeh jabbed.
Hon Kwame Osei Prempeh said various interventions and initiatives under his administration like the repeal of the Criminal Libel Law, establishment of the Office of Accountability, Procurement Act and other laws that was passed were all moves to improve the legal framework to fight corruption.
